Editing Samples
During my 12 years with Strategic Business Insights (SBI), I participated in and oversaw the editing of more than 50 deliverables each month. I was the sole editor for the Scan service and worked closely with the program director to shape each month’s set of documents (1 Strategic Synopsis, 6 Signals of Change, and 12 Patterns). My responsibilities included editing for grammar, style, and accuracy; rewriting dysfunctional documents to ensure adherence to theme, topic, and analyst perspective; trimming documents for length; ensuring consistency among new and past documents; identifying inaccuracies in the 100 Abstracts that served as the data set for each month’s Signals of Change and Patterns; and selecting snippets of text to highlight in the Strategic Synopsis. Although most of the thousands of documents I edited are behind a paywall and SBI has ceased operations, several featured articles remain accessible via the Internet Archive.
